Danielle Tansu
Dani is an inaugural member of the Hunter Volleyball Executive Committee. Dani and her husband relocated from the US to Australia in 2010. Since then, they have grown their family to include two kids and two furkids. She is a passionate coach of our junior and senior programs. Dani started her volleyball journey at the age of 15 competing in high school, beach and grass competitions as well as Junior Olympics and then went on to earn a scholarship at Div III Brenau University. After leaving Brenau Dani played club for Div I University of Georgia and as an adult, was a competitor in the USAV Southern Region both indoor and outdoor. She coached high school for three years, taking teams to top 5 finishes in the State and then coached Junior Olympics for five years, taking teams to Regional Championships and National Qualifiers. She is a fundamentals coach that likes to work from the ground up and believes in developing the character of a player just as much as the talent.
Jordan Maxwell
Jordan was first appointed to the committee as Vice President in 2024, but has been a constant presence around the club since he started volleyball 13 years ago. He grew up in Newcastle, and a big passion of his is growing the quality and profile of volleyball in the region. He has spent the last 10 years building up and running the University of Newcastle volleyball program and maintains close ties with other volleyball communities in Central Coast Volleyball and Illawarra Volleyball. Jordan has played in the Tuesday social competition since he started volleyball and has played representative volleyball for Newcastle/Hunter for nearly a decade. Jordan is a coach for Hunter Volleyball representative teams, and has coached the Junior Boys rep team since Hunter Volleyball first began. Jordan is usually around wherever there is volleyball and always happy to help out or give advice.
Rebecca Boresch
Rebecca is a new Hunter Volleyball Executive Committee member wanting to give back to the community that has been very welcoming after relocating to Newcastle. After supporting her daughter Liliana within the club and rejoining the sport after a significant hiatus. Rebecca has completed the Level 1 Referee Course and enjoys court time on a Wednesday night in the Woman's Social Competition.
Zack Stayman
Zack is a new member of the Hunter Volleyball Executive Committee, joining in April 2024. Zack is still fairly new to the Hunter Volleyball community, beginning volleyball when he moved to Newcastle in 2023 at age 22. Zack enjoys collaborating and playing with the different members of Hunter Volleyball, playing in social and graded competitions, as well as attending social training for indoor volleyball. Zack joined the committee to be more involved with and give back to the community, so if you see him around on the courts, come and say hi!
Mick Sharland
Mick is a teacher that specifies in working with students that live with disabilities or deal with mental health concerns. His intentions for HV and the committee are to assist volleyball to grow and develop across our regions so that all can have the opportunity to play and love the sport as we all do.
Trevor Connell
Trevor works for Department of Defence as a Dispute Resolution practitioner, where he specialises in conflict and leadership coaching. His hopes for HV and the committee are to help continue the growth of volleyball in our community and to encourage new players to strive to represent their sport at the highest levels.
