Senior Representative Program Update

The HV Committee confirms that our association has been invited to participate in the South Eastern Volleyball League in 2024, alongside teams from Illawarra Volleyball, Volleyball ACT, Tasmanian Volleyball, UTS and ProVolley Sydney. 

Home and Away matches will be played 19-20 October, 26-27 October (Newcastle), 2-3 November (Newcastle) 9-10 November, 16-17 November, Finals 23 November.

Program Coaches

At its recent Meeting, the Committee affirmed the appointment of Danielle Tansu and Tony McDaniel as the Head Coaches for the upcoming season. Expressions of Interest are being sought from members of the community interested in supporting the program via Assistant Coaching roles (with responsibilities including home and/or away match coaching, scouting and statistics collation, etc).

Team Selection

Hunter Volleyball will be selecting a maximum of 1 team per gender, for this elite program in 2024.

The HV Coaches will:

• conduct preliminary teams selections at the conclusion of the PVL season on 2nd July; and
• conduct two open men’s and women’s trials for any player wishing to represent HV in the 2024 senior program.  The trials for men and women will be held at Hunter Sports HS Gateshead on Wednesday 7th August and 14th August (updated)

Coaches will also invite a small group of players to join the program as training squad members, to ensure regular scrimmage matches are part of the Team's preparations leading into tournament weekends. This will be a great opportunity for ongoing development of future program players!

The full cost of participation in SEVL and Good Neighbour will be available prior to the Trials.  Players nominating for selection must be willing and prepared to pay the fees associated with this representative season.  

The HV Senior Reps training schedule will feature a mix of weekend and weeknight training sessions based on venue availability during September - October before Round 1 of SEVL on 19-20 October.

All senior players in the Hunter Region who are not successful in selection in the 2024 HV senior rep teams are strongly encouraged to participate in home rounds as match officials, to develop their refereeing and scoring competencies in matches played under FIVB conditions.

Good Neighbour Tournament 24-25 November

The 2024 Senior Representative season culminates in contesting the Honours Division at Good Neighbour on 24-25 November.

Team Fundraising

Fundraising will be a vital component of the home and away senior representative program. Team Sponsorship packages (flights, accommodation, ground transport, uniforms, team entries) and player-driven team fundraising activities (including Bunnings BBQs, Club / Pub Raffles), will be necessary to manage the financial component associated with a new and higher level of competition.
